Drinking water facts

Drinking water has become increasingly popular as a subject of speculative discussion as well as in science.  Here is a list of hard facts.

Children need clean drinking water and access to sanitation. Water is the essence of life, it is a basic right.

* Water and sanitation are essential for health, welfare and the power of individuals, families and the community as a whole.

* Every day almost 10,000 children  under the age of 5 years die from the the results of diseases they have contracted by drinking impure water.


Nearly one billion people in developing countries lack access to clean drinking water

* More than three million people die annually due to lack of clean water.

* More than half of the hospital beds in Sub-Saharan Africa are occupied by patients with hygiene and water-related diseases.
